FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Are you an animal psychic?

A. No. I communicate using telepathic communication. All animals are telepathic, including humans, it’s just that most humans ignore or stifle this ability and I have opened up to it and had some good training and lots of practice. I’m also a medical intuitive, so I can feel, describe, and sense what’s going on in animal (and human) bodies. I am not a veterinarian, so I can’t offer a diagnosis, but I can help describe the effectiveness of medications or the severity or location of pain, or suggest certain tests or ideas that can help vets and animal caregivers in their search for answers and treatment.

Q. Can you find lost pets?Animal Communication Naomi Graychase

A. I prefer not to do this work. I focus more on translating questions and wishes between a human and the animal(s) in their care, and I do animal mediumship.

Q. Can I ask my animal anything?

A. Yes. And your animal will always answer honestly. Companion animals thrive in an atmosphere of emotional authenticity. This means that it feels good to them when our thoughts, our words, our actions, and our feelings all line up. When we are not emotionally authentic in our communication with them–when we, for instance, hide a difficult truth (such as a terminal diagnosis or an impending separation)–it creates a dissonance that is much more uncomfortable than the truth itself. The same is true for emotions; it’s okay to be authentic in our communication, even if you are experiencing uncomfortable emotions, including anger, resentment, confusion, grief, frustration, regret, sadness, shame, fear, embarrassment, or confusion.

Q. Can you diagnose an illness?

Buttercup is one of my absolute most favorite animals to communicate with. She is gracious, clear, kind, soft, and I consider her one of my best teachers.

A. No. I have no veterinary training and I’m not qualified to offer a diagnosis, a prognosis, or a treatment plan. What I can do is communicate some of the things your animal friend is feeling, and this can often be very helpful in locating the source of an ailment or something that will help the animal feel better. For instance, we can ask, Where does it hurt? What does it feel like? Is there anything you would like to eat?

Some holistic veterinarians and their clients also use me to help get the “feeling” of various remedies, foods, food ingredients, and treatments to assist them in making choices about care. In addition to being able to talk to the conscious self of your companion animal, I can also talk to his or her body. So we can ask your rabbit, for instance, if she’s in pain and I can translate her answer; but then I can also ask her body, and feel everything she’s feeling, and then describe it to you in my own words. This can be very helpful. (I can also do this for humans and babies who are still in utero.)

The first time I spoke with Ethan, his human asked if there was anything he wanted…and he said, “birthday cake!” I always promise the animals I am speaking with that I will share everything he or she tells me, even if it doesn’t make sense to me. So, even though I was feeling quite nervous that this new client would think I was bonkers, I told her Ethan’s request. And she laughed a knowing laugh! It turns out that Ethan used to get cake every year on his birthday, but when we first spoke, he was diabetic, so…no more cake. And he sure was missing it! This is an old photo of Ethan eating birthday cake back when he was allowed to, which his human sent me after our first appointment. His joy is evident! You can see why he asked for more cake. 🙂

Q. Can you make my dog behave when she is off-leash?

A. No. I can’t make your pets do anything. I can’t make you do anything either. What I can do is facilitate some loving, open-hearted, honest communication about behaviors. I can help you to ask your dog if she would like to be off-leash. I can help her to understand what behavior you would like her to engage in when she is off-leash. And I can help you to understand why she may or may not be willing or able to do this; and I can help you to understand how to help shift the behavior, if she is willing to try.

Remember that changing behavior is a hard thing for most beings to do. If your partner, roommate, or parent asks you to please start rinsing the dishes before they go in the dishwasher, will you immediately do this and do it all the time? If you decide you’re going to start getting up early and exercise every day before work, will you do this immediately, easily, and keep this up forever without any struggle or setbacks? Animals are often willing to try a new behavior, but the human who is asking for that change must be willing to participate in open-hearted, consistent positive reinforcement of the new behavior–and set clear expectations–for it to work.

Q. Can you talk to animals who have passed away?

A. Yes. We can talk to any companion animal who has left his or her body. I’ll need a photo of the animal; it’s helpful if I can see his or her eyes. Please let me know when you book your appointment that you would like a mediumship appointment, so I can be prepared. We can talk to your living companion animals in the same call, and we can talk to multiple animals in a single appointment, as long as we have time, for no extra charge.

Traditionally, we like to give an animal 40 days from the day they have passed out of their body before we reach out. But if this waiting period would cause you or your family (including surviving companion animals) to experience suffering, then get in touch and we’ll talk about arranging a conversation sooner than 40 days.

Q. I know someone who is a skeptic. Can I make an appointment for him/her/them so you can convince him/her/them this is real?

A. No. Absolutely not. It would not be okay to try to use me to win over skeptics. It doesn’t feel good to me or to the animals you wish to communicate with. I am here to serve clients who feel good and open about the possibility of communicating with the animals in their lives. If that’s not you, then we shouldn’t work together.

Q. How does it work?

A. All species are able to communicate what they are thinking and feeling silently without using words. This form of communication is called telepathy. Animals are very good at this and they use it all the time. Humans are good at it too, but very few of us get a chance to validate this skill and practice, so as we get older, we tend to be more closed off.

I use a picture (that you send me) to help me “find” the animal you want to speak with. Then I am able to “tune in” and communicate telepathically–mostly using feelings and images–with the animal, and I translate this into English for you, and vice versa. For more about how I work, click here.

Q. Can you read my mind?

animal communicator cat cats kitty

Lady has a very matter-of-fact voice and a sardonic wit. She dreams of being the only cat in her household. In our first appointment, her human asked if there was anything Lady wanted and Lady said that she would like to be cradled like a baby and she would like a saucer of milk. After our call, her human offered her both of these things and they were received with tremendous enthusiasm.

A. No. Telepathy is a bit like e-mail, only more secure. I can only read the messages you send to me. I can’t hack into your account and read anything else. I am both sensitive and intuitive, so I may pick up on your grief, your extraordinary love, your fear, but this is not because I am reading your mind; it’s just that I care very much about how you feel when we are speaking.

If you invite me to, I can feel (and release) unhealthy cords between you and your companion animal(s). I can also, if invited, feel into your body/mind/spirit and feel the feelings you feel, as well. It feels very good to receive this loving support and insight from me, but it is only ever possible if you open the door and invite me in. My work serves only the highest good of all those I encounter, so there is no need to feel concerned that I will invade your privacy. It simply isn’t possible and I wouldn’t do it, even if it were.

Q. Can I talk to more than one animal?

A. Yes. We can talk to as many animals as you like during the time you have booked. I think the most I’ve done in one appointment is 8 dogs in 90 minutes. Six living and two deceased. It was tiring! But possible. For a first visit, especially if we are going to work on behavior modification or health-related issues, I recommend allowing at least 20 minutes per pet. Starting June 1st, 2020 all new clients must book an hour for their first appointment so that we have enough time to go over some basics, get to know one another, and cover everything (or as much as possible in the time allowed) that you (and your companion animals) want to talk about without feeling rushed.

Q. Do you talk to beings who aren’t mammals?

A. Yes! While my business is called “Peace, Fellow Mammals Animal Communication,” (and my Instagram is @PeaceFellowMammals), all companion animals are welcome, including non-mammals. I most often work with cats, dogs, horses, and rabbits, but I have also talked with donkeys, bees, other insects, spiders, skunks, birds, and a sugar glider. I would welcome the opportunity to communicate with any companion animal in your care. I cannot, however, accept appointments with anyone who is intentionally harming their animals or raising them for food, hunting, or dairy. I accepted an appointment once that asked me to speak with a dairy cow, and the extraordinary suffering and misery and illness in her body/mind/spirit was overwhelming. Even writing these words, I weep…I simply cannot allow that level of suffering directly into my nervous system–especially if the human in the appointment has no intention of helping, supporting, treating, saving, or honoring the animal in question.

Q. Can I talk to a pet I’m thinking of adopting?

This is me with my kitty, Marjorie (who we also call Baby). Marjie is nine-years-old now, and it took a lot of love and animal communication and patience (eight years worth, both with me and with two other trusted animal communicators), but she uses a litter box every day with ease now–and she even discovered the joys of feeling safe enough to get good belly rubs! (You can see some sweet videos of her belly rub requests at her Instagram (@Marjiecat) or at mine @PeaceFellowMammals.) We have to meet our companion animals where they are, in the same way we meet our autistic or traumatized children where they are, as we work to find the right solution to litter box or other issues in our families. Animal communication really helps.

A. Yes, definitely. If you can provide me with a picture of the animal, I can help you to speak to him or her, and I can also introduce him or her to your existing companion animals, or to animals who have passed on, to get their thoughts, if you’d like me to. Having the animal’s name, age, and location is also helpful. (I once had a client who was thinking of adopting a rescue horse, but she was skeptical about animal communication, and for some reason absolutely refused to tell me his name…This seemed to make her feel safer and more protected in the experience of working with me, so I just carried on and did my best. I was able to be of service, but it was a very painful, uncomfortable experience for both myself and the horse. Can you imagine being denied the use of your name in an important conversation with a stranger who may become your caregiver/guardian? It was awful. And I will never do that again. If you genuinely don’t know the name of an animal, that’s fine; and if you’re thinking of changing an animal’s name, that’s also fine. We can ask them all about it, if you like. But refusing to allow me to address an animal by the name it is known by is unacceptable. Don’t book with me, if that is your intent.)

Q. I work for an animal shelter/animal sanctuary/animal rescue group. Will you give us free communication?

A. I am grateful for the work you are doing on behalf of animals, and I offer a 20% discount to all animal rescue, foster, and advocacy groups. I am also willing to donate gift certificates to appropriate fundraisers. Feel free to email me and ask.

I’ve noticed through the years, that most animals, especially dogs, have a “joie de vivre”–one thing that is a powerful source of joy, motivation, desire, and which is central to their life experience. For some dogs, it’s balls! This beautiful girl is Gabi. She is originally from Germany and now she lives in North Carolina.

Q. Which time zone are you in?

A. E-mail me at graychase at gmail.com and we’ll find a time, arrange payment, and discuss any other details. My office hours are Sunday through Wednesday, 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. eastern time. If you email on Thursday, Friday, or Saturday, you may not get a response until Sunday. Existing clients with an emergency may also try texting me.

Q. What forms of payment do you take?

A. I accept cash, money orders, Venmo, Cash App, Apple Pay, or PayPal. In some cases, I also accept personal checks.

Q. How long is a typical session?

A. First-time clients must book an hour. Return clients can book a shorter or longer session, if they would like. You’ll find my rates below and also on the Rates and Services page.

Q. Do you work with clients outside the United States?

A. Yes. I currently have clients in Germany, Canada, Mexico, Singapore, and South Korea. If you are outside the U.S., please let me know that when you book and we’ll figure out the best technology to use to communicate. Clients are responsible for doing their own correct time zone conversions.

A. Yes! Everything I can do for animals, I can do for humans, too. Visit my Rates and Services page to learn more about what’s possible. Or drop me an e-mail at graychase at gmail.com to ask about something specific you would like to know if I can help with.
